House Plaques
Are you interested in the history of your house?
Do you want to know when it was built?
Who lived there?
Perhaps you’ve noticed these plaques on homes in Saratoga Springs. They identify the date of a building and the name and profession of the people for whom it was built. Not only do these plaques commemorate a building, they also acknowledge the stewardship of an owner in preserving and maintaining the home’s historic character.
If you would like your home to be recognized this way, the Preservation Foundation’s Historic Plaque Program can help. We have trained volunteers who research the ownership history of your home and suggest a designation for the plaque. (View an example of a house history) After your review, the plaque is cast in bronze. The cost of an historic plaque and the house history is $270 for members, $300 for non-members.
A non-refundable $100 research fee due upon receipt of application. Please allow 4-6 weeks for completion of research. Once you have received the research on your building, payment of $200 is required prior to ordering your bronze cast 7” x 10” oval plaque. Please allow 8-10 weeks for the casting and delivery of the plaque.
