Sunday Strolls

The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation presents their series of historic walking tours beginning on September 10th, which will be offered each Sunday at 10:30AM.  Tickets are $15 for SSPF Members and $20 for non-members and should be purchased in advance! Space is limited!

 

Members should contact the Foundation directly at (518) 587-5030 to reserve a ticket with your stroll pass.

Tours are rain or shine.
Allow 90 minutes.
Requires walking and standing and covers varied terrain.

There are NO physical tickets for the strolls, guests should check-in at the noted meeting location prior to the tour beginning.

DOWN IN THE VALLEY: EXPLORING THE GUT
Alexandra Morgan will explore the area behind Broadway known as “The Gut,” which was home to many working class and Jewish families who provided important contributions to the community.

POST TIME!
Join Georgia Horner to explore the area surrounding the Saratoga Race Course as she highlights the history of the Reading Rooms, National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame, Oklahoma Training Track, and the Fasig-Tipton Humphrey S. Finney Sales Pavilion.

WEALTH & WELLNESS: FRANKLIN SQUARE
Carrie Woerner, NYS Assemblywoman and former SSPF Executive Director, will lead a tour through the architecturally rich historic Franklin Square, our city’s oldest residential neighborhood.

MAIL ORDER HOUSES OF SARATOGA
Madison C. Squires will lead this tour of houses on East and Pinewood avenues, which highlights the “Kit House” era – a time when the average person could not only put a check through the mail, but order and receive an entire house as well.

Deborah Studwell will lead a tour of these grand residential streets which are lined with elegant Victorian and Craftsman houses near the Saratoga Race Course.

HISTORIC WEST SIDE
Executive Director, Samantha Bosshart, will lead this tour through the restored West Side to learn about Saratoga’s Irish and Italian immigrants as well as the black community who helped shape this unique district. In addition, this tour highlights its rebirth as an arts district and the rehabilitations that took place in the early 2000s.

BIKE TOUR-SPA STATE PARK
Join Linda Harvey for a 3-hour bike tour of the National Historic Landmark, Saratoga Spa State Park, to explore its historic development from 1910 to the present, highlighting its significant architecture and landscape. This special program, in partnership with the Friends of Saratoga Spa State Park, is $20 for SSPF members and $25 for non-members.
