Comprehensive Plan: A Voice for Historic Preservation

As you probably know, Saratoga Springs is working on a new Comprehensive Plan to use to shape the policies and growth of the city for the next ten years. It is vital to have a voice for historic preservation. If you are interested in historic preservation, we ask you to communicate your concerns and ideas about the future to the comprehensive planning committee.
Some areas to consider as you form your comments:
The historic appearance of the City is one of the key features that make Saratoga Springs unique and attractive. What should be included in the new plan to preserve this ambiance?
If you live in a historic district or house, how has development impacted your neighborhood? What should be included in the new plan for the future?
How have traffic and transportation impacted historic properties and districts? What are objectives for the future that incorporate preservation of historic architecture and landscapes with transportation needs?
Are City planning entities (Planning, Zoning, Design Review) providing adequate regulation and oversight for historic resources? What changes should be made?
Saratoga Springs is known as the “City in the Country.” What policies should be adopted to maintain the City’s relationship to the country?
The new plan will also look at arts and cultural resources in the community. What objectives should the plan include to address this in the next ten years?
