SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY: The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation will honor Thomas R. Frost Jr., Carol Frantz, Carol Kurto and Carol Waldron on Friday, May 14th at their 8th Annual Spirit of Preservation Celebration. This event recognizes individuals who through their vision and dedication have fostered historic preservation in Saratoga Springs and contributed to the quality of life for citizens of Saratoga Springs and recognizes May as National Preservation Month.
Thomas R. Frost, Jr., founder and principal of Frost Architecture, is being honored for over thirty-five years of architectural design in Saratoga Springs. His imaginative and compatible contemporary design gives vibrancy to Saratoga Springs’ downtown as demonstrated by the Adirondack Trust Company Mabee Building, 31 Church Street; the Pfeil Building, 340 Broadway; and the Roohan Building, 435 Broadway. Mr. Frost’s residential designs for additions, adaptive re-use, rehabilitations, and new construction are consistently sensitive to our community’s historic fabric. “Tom Frost loves Saratoga Springs” said Tom Roohan, honorary co-chair of the event. “I always enjoy working with him, whether it’s on a parking deck or the Mabee Building, he is always hands-on, open-minded, creative and committed to anything he starts” he said.
Carol Frantz, Carol Kurto, and Carol Waldron are being honored for their lifetime volunteer commitment to the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation. Each of these women has volunteered for twenty years on the Foundation’s signature event, the Candlelight House Tour. Beginning in 1989, the Candlelight House Tour serves to educate and raise awareness for the need to protect the unique architecture of Saratoga Springs. Without the efforts of these women, the Candlelight House Tour would not be the success it is today.
The Spirit of Preservation Celebration will take place at the Saratoga Automobile Museum on Friday, May 14th from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and the Lily and the Rose is catering the event. The Foundation thanks honorary co-chairs, Sonny Bonacio, Matthew J. Jones, and Tom Roohan. Last year’s Spirit of Preservation honoree, New York Racing Association, has donated a Clubhouse box which will be raffled off during the evening celebration. “The Foundation is pleased to have the generous support of our corporate sponsors, New York Racing Association, Teakwood Builders Inc., The Adirondack Trust Company, The Saratoga Springs City Center, and Ganem Contracting Corporation for honoring these individuals who have been dedicated to preserving the rich historic character of Saratoga Springs.” said Samantha Bosshart, Executive Director of the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation.
Tickets are $55 for Foundation members and $65 for non-members. Response encouraged by Friday, May 7th. For additional information please contact the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation at (518) 587-5030 or email Kristen Gilbank, Membership Programs Director, kgilbank@saratogapreservation.org.
