Subject:  Please do not destroy Saratoga Race Course
The history of Saratoga Springs is synonymous with horseracing, along with the beautiful culture that is all encompassing. The CHARACTER of Saratoga Race Course could never be replaced to import the feeling of ages gone by. How lucky are we to walk through those gates and dream not only of days gone by but also of our own fond memories with family and friends. As we watch our past disappear piece by piece, right before our eyes, it is only those who bestow upon us wisdom and knowledge to truly understand that we can only learn from the past to appreciate the future.

Subject:  Saratoga Race Cource
The Saratoga Race Cource is one of the most important historic, cultural and economic resources of Saratoga County. It is important that NYS recognize this special circumstance in the awarding of the contract for the track. The DRC, planning and zoning boards of the City should have final approval of all changes at the track.

Maintaining the historic integrity of the Saratoga Race Course is critical to its future. What made the Saratoga Race Course popular when it opened was that it was special, that is the same reason it is popular today. If changes to the architecture and landscaping are not made thoughtfully, it could negatively affect the race course and its popularity with future generations. Saratoga Race Course is special because of its history; it is different from all other race tracks. The race course, its grand stands, and surrounding landscaping all tell a part of its famous history. Special consideration needs to be made so that history is not lost as the race course moves towards to the future. Through a thoughtful and creative dialogue, historic preservation and development can work together successfully.
